B'nai Israel Cemetery

This project involved expanding the existing historic cemetery grounds to accommodate future cemetery plots. As one of the oldest cemeteries in Gainesville, special care was taken to preserve the existing historic gates, columns and monuments and incorporate them into the new design. Scope of work included permitting the project with the State of Florida and the City of Gainesville.

JOLA designed cemetery walls and entry areas, internal pedestrian circulation, memorial spaces and landscape and irrigation. Adjacent properties were incorporated into the Cemetery Master Plan to create a serene, urban park setting that will accommodate the community for the next 100 years.
